Job description

Position Summary

Accepting applications for the 2026-2027 school year. Working from home, the Part‑time Counselor will work a minimum of 20 hours per week providing social/emotional virtual services to K‑12 students enrolled in Connections Academy schools. The counselor will connect with students via webcams and web conferencing software and use the company's Education Management System to manage their caseload.

Responsibilities
  • Offer individual and group counseling to students dealing with emotional, behavioral, or social issues.
  • Evaluate students' needs and develop personalized intervention plans.
  • Respond to and manage crises, such as bullying or family problems.
  • Work with families to address issues affecting the student’s school experience and connect them with community resources.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other professionals to develop and implement strategies for student success.
  • Advocate for students’ needs within the school and community, ensuring they receive appropriate services and support.
  • Provide workshops and training for students, staff, and families on topics such as mental health, substance abuse, and conflict resolution.
  • Maintain accurate records of interactions, progress, and interventions.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Provide high quality counseling services to assigned students while supporting program implementation.
  • Plan and implement therapy in a virtual environment.
  • Be an expert on assigned school and state‑specific policies and procedures for implementing LiveCounseling.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship between the LiveServices team and the schools and programs served.
  • Review and analyze a variety of reports to maintain compliance.
  • Maintain a high level of communication with the leadership team and school staff.
  • Provide timely and thorough documentation of therapeutic interventions and progress reports.
  • Hold regular touch‑base meetings with the supervisor.
  • Conduct screenings and formal and informal evaluations of all students’ supportive needs using documented best practices.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/learning coaches and school special education staff to ensure IEP goals are being met.
  • Consult with teachers and coordinate implementation of special instruction for students with supportive needs.
  • Assist with organization and proper implementation of paperwork, documentation, and procedures for the IEP process for select students.
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date data in the company's Education Management System and special education software.
  • Adhere to all laws and company policies regarding data protection and security.
  • Obtain and maintain all required licenses and clearances as assigned.
  • Complete required professional development, training, and courses for CEUs to maintain credentials and meet compliance standards.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • LCSW, LMSW, LICSW, LPC, or DOE School Counselor License.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain multiple required state certifications and clearances as assigned.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a K‑12 school setting.
  • Strong technology skills.
  • High degree of flexibility and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
