Role Overview

As Counsel, Complex Transactions, you will negotiate, draft, and review a variety of agreements, collaborating with teams across clinical, medical, marketing, finance, and sales departments. This position is fully remote within the Cepheid Legal Department.

Key Responsibilities

1. Partner with data transformation, product, and commercial teams on legal matters related to software and hardware development, ensuring compliance.
2. Draft and negotiate complex legal contracts, including data sharing, collaboration, AI, and vendor agreements.
3. Provide legal advice to technology, product, and commercial teams for launching innovative digital products.
4. Develop and update contractual templates, policies, and procedures related to advanced technologies.
5. Stay informed on laws, regulations, and industry standards concerning AI, security, healthcare, and medical devices, sharing knowledge internally.

Minimum Requirements

1. JD from an accredited U.S. law school and active bar membership.
2. At least 3+ years of relevant experience in a law firm or in-house legal department.
3. Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years of related experience or Master’s degree with 3+ years of related experience.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in medical diagnostics or healthcare legal transactions or litigation.
• Experience drafting and negotiating various agreements, especially in digital and AI/ML technologies.

Additional Information

This role offers a competitive salary range of $114,700 - $170,000, plus bonus and benefits. It is eligible for remote work and requires full COVID-19 vaccination, subject to accommodations. Cepheid values diversity and is an equal opportunity employer.
