Job summary

Ryerson is seeking a Counsel, Litigation & Compliance to support litigation, employment, compliance, insurance, and risk management across North America. Reporting to the General Counsel – North America & Chief Compliance Officer, the attorney will guide strategy, investigations, and risk decisions from Chicago with a hybrid work arrangement.

The role requires a J.D. and bar membership with 3+ years of experience in law firms or in-house settings, and a demonstrated ability to advise on data

Qualifications

• J.D. and active bar membership required.
• 3+ years of legal experience in a law firm, in-house department, or both.
• Experience managing litigation and dispute resolution matters.
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to provide practical legal advice in a fast-paced business environment.
• Experience with employment law, insurance, compliance, data privacy, cybersecurity, or government contracting preferred.

• Support compliance initiatives involving data privacy, cybersecurity, and government contracting requirements.
• Advise on risk, liability, and compliance issues arising from acquisitions, contracts, leases, and vendor agreements.
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments and provide practical guidance to internal stakeholders.

LHH is conducting an exclusive search for a Counsel, Litigation & Compliance for Ryerson, a leading publicly traded metals processor and distributor. Reporting directly to the General Counsel – North America & Chief Compliance Officer, this attorney will support litigation, employment, compliance, insurance, and risk management matters across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Manage litigation, claims, investigations, and dispute resolution matters across North America.
• Partner with the General Counsel on litigation strategy, settlement decisions, and risk assessments.
