Job summary

Inter-Con Security Systems, Inc. seeks a Counsel – Litigation to join its growing Legal Department. This in-house role moves beyond a traditional law-firm model, handling meaningful employment litigation directly for Inter-Con.

You will work closely with business leaders, gain hands-on case ownership, and contribute to the company’s international growth. The position emphasizes practical in-house judgment, collaboration with internal clients and outside counsel, and a focus on risk mitigation

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
• Active membership in good standing with the California Bar.
• 3–5 years of relevant litigation experience focusing on employment law.

Responsibilities

• Manage and support employment litigation matters, administrative claims, internal investigations, regulatory inquiries, and related disputes.
• Help develop litigation strategies aligned with business priorities and risk management objectives.
• Draft motions, pleadings, correspondence, and discovery; assist with document collection, ESI, witness interviews, and deposition preparation.
• Take and defend depositions and participate in hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials as needed.
• Evaluate claims and contribute to settlement strategy, negotiations, and resolution efforts.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to provide practical guidance on employment litigation risk and compliance.
• Coordinate with outside counsel on strategy, discovery, deadlines, budgets, and retention of in-house work.
• Support traditional labor matters, including grievance review and strategy.

The Opportunity

Inter-Con is seeking a Counsel – Litigation to join its growing Legal Department. This is an opportunity to move beyond the traditional law-firm model and handle meaningful employment litigation directly on behalf of Inter-Con. For attorneys coming from private practice, the role offers a more sustainable in-house work model centered on business outcomes rather than billable-hour targets—without giving up meaningful case ownership or hands‑on litigation experience. Counsel will also gain direct exposure to business leaders and build practical in-house judgment at a company that is continuing to grow internationally, although the position itself will not oversee global legal matters.

Primary Responsibilities

• Manage and support employment litigation matters, administrative claims, internal investigations, regulatory inquiries, and related disputes.
• Help develop litigation strategies aligned with the company’s business priorities and risk‑management objectives.
• Draft motions, pleadings, correspondence, and discovery; assist with document collection, ESI, witness interviews, and deposition preparation.
• Take and defend depositions and participate in hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials as experience and case needs permit.
• Evaluate claims and contribute to settlement strategy, negotiations, and resolution efforts.
• Partner directly with internal stakeholders to provide practical guidance on employment litigation risk, dispute resolution, and compliance matters.
• Coordinate with outside counsel on case strategy, discovery, deadlines, budgets, and results while helping retain meaningful litigation work in-house.
• Support traditional labor matters, including grievance review and strategy, with guidance from experienced members of the Legal team.
• Monitor legal developments affecting the organization and recommend policy or process improvements that reduce risk.
• Assist with contract review, requests for proposals, compliance initiatives, and other Legal Department projects as needed.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with the California Bar.
• Three to five years of relevant litigation experience, with a strong foundation in employment law.
• Hands‑on experience with discovery, motion practice, case management, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, or trials.
• Traditional labor experience is preferred but not required.
• Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and oral communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
• Practical business judgment and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal clients, senior attorneys, and outside counsel.
• Initiative, professionalism, sound judgment, and integrity.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Teams, and LexisNexis; experience with SharePoint, Salesforce, Legal Files, Paycom, or ADP is helpful.
