Job summary

Hillcrest Health & Living is seeking a compassionate Cottage Nurse (RN or LPN) to join the Hillcrest Country Estates Cottages in Papillion, NE. You will deliver direct nursing care, lead the cottage team, coordinate care with physicians, and support elders to maintain independence and dignity.

The role requires strong clinical judgment, excellent communication, and a person-centered approach. Full-time daytime shifts include two 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. shifts and one 6:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. shift.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current Nebraska or compact-state RN or LPN license.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• At least one year of nursing experience in long-term care, post-acute care, hospital, or a similar setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality nursing and clinical care to support elders' physical and mental wellbeing.
• Monitor elders for changes in condition and communicate concerns promptly.
• Coordinate care with physicians and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
• Complete prescribed treatments and ensure medications are administered accurately, timely, and with appropriate privacy.
• Support fall prevention by investigating falls, identifying contributing factors, and helping implement preventive measures.
• Follow skin-care standards and ensure preventive measures are in place to help maintain skin integrity.
• Support admission and transition planning for new Cottage elders.
• Complete admission assessments, verify physician orders, and initiate care plans.
• Review and update individualized life plans and plans of care as needs change.
• Complete required admission care-plan documentation within established timeframes.
• Train, observe, monitor, and provide retraining as needed to Elder Assistants related to medication administration and activities of daily living.
• Identify and report concerns related to nursing care practices.
• Support cottage team members in following clinical policies, procedures, and standards.
• Help monitor special care programs, including incontinence management, turning, restorative care, and meal programs.
• Implement emergency procedures calmly and effectively.
• Role model professional behavior and high clinical standards.
• Participate in nurse meetings, community in-services, annual competencies, and required education.
• Assist with additional nursing and clinical responsibilities as assigned.
