The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery & Rehabilitation Medicine at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences is seeking a full-time TH Instructional Support Assistant / Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.

Under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist, the successful candidate will support skilled OT in acute care and rehabilitation, provide education to patients and families, and assist with equipment and documentation needs.

Qualificações

• Under supervision of an Occupational Therapist, the successful candidate will assist in treating patients referred for skilled occupational therapy in acute care and rehabilitation settings.
• Provide education to patients and family members and to other healthcare professionals involved in patient care.

Responsabilidades

• Submit requests for durable medical equipment and adaptive devices, orthotics, and prosthetic needs.
• Complete and submit all required patient documentation and billing in the electronic medical record; and related paperwork.
• Provide supervision to rehabilitation aides and volunteers.
• Coordinate and participate in instructional activities for COTA students, nurses, and housestaff.
• Assist in the management of OT inventory, equipment, and records maintenance.
• Assist in supervising department rehab aides per patient transport, equipment management, and related logs.
• Participate in ongoing and new performance improvement projects, grant projects, and occupational therapy clinical research.
• Participate in community outreach education and clinical care activities.
• Adhere to all compliance regulations and licensing requirements.
