Job summary

Topaz Fiscal Services in Covington, GA is seeking an Occupational Therapist Assistant to perform occupational therapy programs under general supervision by an OT. Qualifications

• Credentialed graduate of an accredited two-year Occupational Therapist Assistant program and certified according to national requirements.
• Prior experience preferred.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds, with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 20 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Perform occupational therapy programs under the supervision of an occupational therapist.
• Assist in administering programs involving functional skills including activities of daily, pre-vocational, vocational homemaking skills.
• Instruct, motivate and assist patients/residents in learning and improving functional skills.
• Observe patients/residents during treatments and compile data on responses to treatments and progress.
• Assist in evaluation of patient/resident daily living skills and capacities to determine abilities and limitations.
• Design and adapt equipment and living environments.
• Instruct patients and families in home programs and use of adaptive equipment.
• Document patient progress toward goals.
• Maintain good relations with patients and families; adhere to rights policies.
• Follow infection control precautions and safety policies.
• Observe safety needs and report hazards.
• Maintain supplies and equipment; keep billing records.
