Job summary

Gallaudet University is seeking a Costume Designer for the school play program. You will design and fit costumes for the acting cast and collaborate with lighting, set, and the stage manager, ensuring costumes align with the production concept.

You will collect and supervise costumes with the assistance of Performing Arts Specialists, provide feedback to the program, cast, and crew, and support high school performers (9th–12th grade). Position runs Oct 5, 2026 through May 31, 2027.

Qualifications

• Experience in design and make costume for school plays/theatre field.
• Experience in hand sewing and using a sewing machine.
• Provide feedback and support to the Performing Arts Program, the cast, and the crew.
• Demonstrate strong management skills.
• Knowledge and understanding of high school students (9th grade to 12th grade).
• Familiarity with performing arts programs and student discipline.
• Commitment to the program.
• Fluency in ASL.
