Job summary

Adient in Plymouth MI seeks a Costing Analyst to oversee product costs including material, conversion, labor, tooling and capital requirements for new business or changes. You will develop quotes for OEMs and review bill of materials and manufacturing assumptions.

This role requires a Bachelor's in Finance/Business/Operations/Engineering and 1–3 years in finance, operations or manufacturing in automotive, plus strong Excel, PowerPoint and communication skills. Occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Operations or Engineering.
  • 1-3 years’ experience in Finance, Operations, Manufacturing, Engineering or Purchasing in the Automotive Industry.
  • Strong skills in Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Self-motivated with eagerness to learn; understands both financial and technical sides of operations.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical skills and strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Develop quotations to OEM customers through business units.
  • Develop risks/opportunities with each quote.
  • Review complex BOMs for reasonableness.
  • Review manufacturing assumptions for reasonableness.
  • Effectively communicate cost data to the organization.
  • Develop rates for manufacturing plants.
  • Analyze cost variance and financial metrics.
  • Support purchasing in negotiating prices and providing cost targets.
  • Provide cost reduction estimates as required.
  • Contribute to departmental initiatives and process improvements.
  • Work on special projects as needed.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Overview

The Costing Analyst oversees development and management of product costs: material cost, conversion cost, manufacturing equipment requirements, labor requirements, cycle times, tooling and capital requirements for new business or changes to current business.

Core Responsibilities
  • Develop quotations that will be submitted to OEM customers through business units
  • Develop risks/opportunities with each quote
  • Review complex bill of materials for reasonableness
  • Review manufacturing assumptions for reasonableness
  • Effectively communicate cost data to the organization
  • Develop rates for manufacturing plants
  • Analyze cost variance and financial metrics
  • Support purchasing negotiate prices with suppliers as required and provide cost targets for purchased components
  • Provide product cost reduction estimates as required
  • Actively contribute to departmental initiatives/process improvements to enhance the overall department’s effectiveness
  • Work on special projects, as needed
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Business or Operations or Engineering
  • 1-3 years’ experience in Finance or Operations or Manufacturing or Engineering or Purchasing in the Automotive Industry
  • Strong computer skills, i.e., Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn
  • Interest in understanding both the financial and technical side of operations and manufacturing
  • Demonstrated experience as a value-added team member
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work cross-functionally across the organization
  • Occasional travel required
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration
  • Intern experience within the Automotive Industry
  • Foreign language skills
