Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a skilled cost engineer to create and analyze component material costs for automotive programs. You will develop detailed ground-up estimates, including piece price and tooling estimates, and collaborate with internal teams to drive cost reduction opportunities.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in automotive cost engineering, strong data analytics skills, and experience leading cross-functional initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Engineering is required.
• 3+ years in Finance or Cost Engineering.
• Experience with MS Excel and cost estimating software.
• Experience with data analytics tools and data-driven analysis.
• 5+ years in cost engineering or related automotive roles.
• Experience managing multiple projects and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Create, analyze and validate component material costs and targets.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Create, analyze and validate component material costs and targets.
• Generate ground-up / detailed material cost estimates that encompass both piece price estimations and production tooling estimations.
• Collaborate with key internal cross functional peers.
• Active partner with the internal GPSC purchasing team.
• Occasional domestic travel to supplier facilities for enhanced costing collaboration and support of the specific engineering / purchasing team.
• Support the assigned GM SMT from a tooling and piece price perspective.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s in Finance, or Engineering
• 3+ years of experience in Finance or Cost Engineering
• Experience with Microsoft Office software and MS Excel
• Experience with cost estimating software and data analytics tools.

• 5+ Years of experience in cost engineering or related occupation in automotive cost estimating, automotive manufacturing, automotive product design / engineering, or automotive purchasing.

• Experience in a leading role.
