Job summary

Mallard Manufacturing, a MacLean-Fogg Company, is hiring a Purchasing Representative for our Sterling, IL facility. You will support accurate purchasing by preparing purchase orders, coordinating with suppliers, maintaining records, and driving cost savings and process improvements.

Location: Sterling, IL • Schedule: 1st Shift, Mon-Fri • Pay: $17.50–$21.50 per hour • Employment Type: Full-time / Hourly • Overtime may be required based on business needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• 2-4 years of purchasing experience.
• Knowledge of UPS/FedEx shipping.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Attention to detail for POs, pricing, and records.
• Organizational and time-management abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Teams.
• Knowledge of JD Edwards or similar system.
• Problem-solving and sound judgment in purchasing.

Responsibilities

• Edit and process purchase requests and prepare purchase orders.
• Research catalogs and vendor databases to compare pricing and specs.
• Maintain purchasing records including materials, pricing, and delivery schedules.
• Communicate with vendors for quotations and order follow-up.
• Drive cost-saving initiatives and process improvements.
• Own supplier projects and participate in category buying.
• Monitor inventory levels and identify reorder points.
• Provide guidance to junior staff and adhere to policies.
