Huntington Ingalls Industries, Inc. Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula seeks a senior cost estimator to estimate labor and material costs for Navy shipbuilding projects.

You will analyze specifications, prepare cost reports, and present findings to internal and external stakeholders. Requirements include a high school diploma with extensive experience, or an appropriate degree with years of hands-on cost estimating.

• Associates degree and 12 years of experience.
• Bachelors degree and 10 years of experience.
• Masters degree and 8 years of experience.
• PhD and 5 years of experience.
• Must be a current Ingalls Employee.
• Related experience in Engineering, Quality/Industrial Engineering, Planning, Procurement, Finance, Information Technology or Operations/Crafts.
• Experience with cost estimating and pricing workflows.

Responsibilities

• Estimate labor and material costs based on RFQ data.
• Analyze specifications, blueprints, and BOMs to calculate production costs.
• Collect cost data from stakeholders, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Compute estimates for raw materials and subcontracted work.
• Prepare cost reports and present findings to management and customers.
• Create cost models for estimating elements and maintain historical data.

The Role

Estimates labor and material costs of manufacturing and engineering based on request for proposal (RFP) data submitted by prospective customers. Analyzes specifications, including sketches, blueprints, bills of material, or sample layouts, and calculates production costs using labor and material pricing schedules and historical data. Collects cost data from functional representatives, subcontractors, and vendors. Computes cost estimates of raw materials or subcontracted work and labor. Prepares and maintains historical cost data. Creates cost models for cost estimating elements. Prepares cost reports and presents findings to management, contract personnel, proposal coordinators, customer representatives, price auditors, vendors, and subcontractors.

Nice to Have

Significant knowledge of Ingalls costs/financial system, familiarity with contract modifications/requirements, strong communications skills, experience in building customer relationships.

Experience using Microsoft Office applications and the Estimating & Pricing Tool Suite (COP/DEPP) is a plus.
