Job summary

CM Solutions seeks an experienced Cost Control Specialist to support a Public Works project in the greater Los Angeles area. The role requires five+ years in government cost accounting, grant management, and financial reporting.

This hybrid role requires local residency and onsite presence from time to time. You will track costs across multiple projects, implement audit-ready controls, and prepare clear financial reports and dashboards for management.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of cost accounting or public program financial management experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field.
• Ability to track and reconcile project costs, budgets, encumbrances, and expenditures across multiple projects and funding sources.
• Experience developing and implementing a rebate, reimbursement, grant, or incentive program, including eligibility criteria, application and verification workflows, and payment tracking.
• Ability to design internal controls that prevent duplicate or ineligible payments and keep the program audit-ready.
• Ability to prepare clear financial reports, dashboards, and briefing materials for management and oversight bodies.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with governmental financial systems.
• Effective oral and written communication skills, including explaining program rules to the public and internal staff.

Job description

We are looking for candidates to support a Public Works project as an experienced Cost Control Specialist. Candidates are required to have at least 5 years of experience in governmental or public-sector cost accounting, grant or program financial management, and financial reporting.

This is a hybrid job with the need to be onsite from time to time, so you must live in the greater Los Angeles area. There are no relocation funds or per diem, you must be a local resident.

• Experience with disaster recovery or post-disaster financial programs.
