Job summary

The Building People is preparing for an upcoming opportunity in the Washington, DC area and invites applications from qualified candidates. The role focuses on managing a portfolio of government facility construction projects with emphasis on cost control, budgeting, and financial analysis.

Ideal candidates have at least 2 years of related experience, proficiency in Excel, SharePoint, and database/reporting tools, and must be able to obtain DHS suitability clearance.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in commercial/government facility construction project management.
• Experience in financial analysis using Excel spreadsheets, including formulas and formats.
• Experience with cost controls and financial cost tracking.
• Experience with database software and report production.
• Experience developing and evaluating economic analyses.
• Experience developing and evaluating construction project cost estimates and tracking funds.
• SharePoint database management and design.
• Ability to pass a DHS “suitability” background investigation.

Key Responsibilities

• Effectively manage an assigned portfolio of projects while addressing challenges related:
• Construction cost management, tracking of funds, and Budgeting.
• Financial analysis, economic analysis, report production.
• Project administration, program management, database management.

Required Experience & Skills

• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in commercial/government facility construction project management relating to:
• Financial analysis using excel spreadsheets, including formulas and formats.
• Experience with cost controls and financial cost tracking
• Experience with database software and report production
• Experience developing and evaluating economic analysis
• Experience developing and evaluating construction project cost estimates and tracking funds.
• SharePoint Database management and design
• Ability to pass a DHS “suitability” background investigation is a requirement

Preferred Experience & Skills

• CPA, PMP, and federal government accounting experience highly desired.
• Experience managing complex new construction or major renovation commercial/government building projects with experience managing simultaneous construction and/or building projects
• Ability to work independently, in groups, and in a stressful environment

Preferred Education

• An accounting, business, finance, or construction management bachelor’s degree (civil, mechanical, electrical or architectural, etc) from an accredited University recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
• Salary offered will be commensurate with the candidate's experience, qualifications, and certifications.
• Our positions may require a background screening and clearance directly from the Government.
