Job summary

Flowserve is seeking an experienced Cost Accounting Manager to lead a Cost Accounting team across multiple sites and business platforms. You will partner with Finance Business Partners and leadership to deliver insights, strengthen processes, and ensure governance of cost accounting models.

You will drive continuous improvement, support strategic decisions, and enhance operational efficiency while overseeing costing, inventory valuation, and margin analysis across the organization.

We are seeking an experienced Cost Accounting Manager to lead a Cost Accounting team and provide cost accounting expertise across multiple sites and business platforms. In this role, you will partner closely with Finance Business Partners and leadership teams to deliver financial insights, strengthen cost accounting processes, and ensure effective governance of the cost accounting model. This position offers the opportunity to drive continuous improvement, support strategic decision-making, and enhance operational efficiency across the organization.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and develop the Cost Accounting team by setting priorities, managing workloads, and ensuring accountability for deliverables.Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on team effectiveness, process optimization, and operational efficiency.Partner with the Accounting Manager and Finance Business Partners to establish standard costs, labor and overhead rates, and other costing methodologies while evaluating the impact on product costs.Oversee inventory accounting activities, including physical inventory and cycle count audits, variance analysis, inventory valuation, material classifications, and purchasing rate calculations.Provide guidance and resolve complex cost accounting issues, including margin analysis, project reviews, customer quotation support, productivity analysis, efficiency metrics, and capacity utilization assessments.Investigate root causes of cost model and financial reporting issues and recommend process improvements and policy enhancements.Participate in Project Status Reviews to identify and validate project costs for revenue recognition under both Percentage-of-Completion (POC) and Point-in-Time accounting methods.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives, financial analysis, and special projects.Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.Qualifications & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.5 to 7 years of progressive experience in cost accounting, manufacturing finance, or related disciplines.Prior experience leading or supervising accounting teams preferred.Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles, inventory accounting, standard costing, and financial analysis.Experience with Percentage-of-Completion (POC) accounting is preferred.Background in a project-based manufacturing or engineering environment preferred.Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to issue resolution.Demonstrated ability to assess business challenges and recommend effective financial solutions.Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively present financial information to diverse stakeholders.Experience working within decentralized, matrixed organizations.Proficiency with ERP and financial systems such as SAP, Oracle, and/or BPC is a plus.Why Join Us?This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in shaping cost accounting practices across a multi-site organization while partnering with leaders to drive financial performance, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.:
