Job summary

Staffmark Group is hiring a Cost Accounting Manager in Fairfield, VA to oversee manufacturing cost accounting, inventory valuation, and financial analysis. You will partner with operations and supply chain to drive cost visibility and robust controls.

The role requires a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, 5+ years in cost accounting (10+ in progressive roles), ERP proficiency, and advanced Excel skills. Standard costs knowledge and industry experience are a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of cost accounting experience or 10+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience as Cost Accounting Manager, Senior Cost Accountant, Accounting Manager, or similar role.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing cost accounting, inventory accounting, and inventory valuation.
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems and financial data management.
• Advanced Excel skills and ability to analyze large data sets.
• Experience developing or maintaining standard costs preferred.
• Manufacturing or industrial accounting experience preferred.
• Experience improving accounting processes, controls, or reporting systems preferred.
• Experience working with operations and supply chain teams preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and maintenance of product and manufacturing cost information.
• Manage month-end cost accounting activities, inventory analysis, reconciliations, and reporting.
• Analyze production costs, variances, trends, and profitability opportunities.
• Maintain costing methodologies and ensure consistent application across operations.
• Partner with supply chain and operations teams to evaluate manufacturing activity and inventory movement.
• Develop reports and analytical tools to measure manufacturing performance and product profitability.
• Review inventory valuation and investigate discrepancies.
• Improve accounting processes, systems, and internal controls related to costing and inventory.
• Support annual physical inventory activities and reconciliations.
• Assist with internal and external audits by preparing documentation and analysis.
