Position Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Cost Accountant for a temporary role to support a critical financial systems alignment project. The focus will be on working within our AS400-based ERP system to develop and refine cost codes, improve inventory costing accuracy, and ensure that perpetual inventory balances tie to the general ledger. This role is essential to improving the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting. T his role is a temporary, contracted position for 3-6 months (with potential for extension)

Key Responsibilities:

· Analyze existing AS400 cost structures and inventory data flows

· Create or refine cost codes to enable more accurate item-level cost tracking

· Perform reconciliations between the perpetual inventory system and the balance sheet inventory accounts

· Identify and correct system or procedural gaps causing misalignment

· Partner with accounting, operations, and IT teams to ensure consistent cost application logic

· Support month-end close by validating inventory balances and COGS calculations

· Document all cost system changes and processes for sustainability post-contract

Required Qualifications:

· 6+ years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in manufacturing or distribution

· Strong working knowledge of AS400 (iSeries)

· Proven experience reconciling inventory subledger to GL

· BS degree in Accounting or Finance

· Solid understanding of standard costing, weighted average, or FIFO methods

· High attention to detail with strong analytical and documentation skills

· Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Experience with inventory and costing modules in legacy or custom ERP systems.

· Background in manufacturing finance or turnaround environments

· Familiarity with processed documentation and audit support
