Job summary

Solmax in Houston seeks a detail-oriented accountant to maintain and analyze the general ledger, inventory subsystems, and manufacturing data. The role supports forecasting, budgeting, and cost improvement initiatives.

You will balance G/L inventory accounts, manage variance reserves, prepare journal entries and monthly reports, and assist with audits and annual budget development. Strong Excel skills and cross-plant coordination are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• 2-3 years of accounting experience.
• Proficiency in Windows applications and Excel.
• Experience in manufacturing and standard cost accounting.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the standard cost system for manufactured products.
• Monitor and finalize the manufacturing work order process into inventory.
• Review, correct, and reconcile general ledger accounts.
• Develop and maintain KPIs / metrics for analyzing operating results.
• Maintain general ledger (G/L) accounts associated with inventory and ensure they are balanced with inventory subsystems across multiple plants.
• Manage variance reserves and expenses including purchase price variance, standard revaluation, usage variances, and overhead variances.
• Coordinate the flow of general ledger data through the system.
• Prepare journal entries, schedules, and reports for the monthly Operating report outs.
• Assist in preparing audit schedules and the annual budget.
• Calculate elimination entries for inter-company inventory in both dollars and units.
• Process manufacturing transactions for off-site facilities.
• Audit and assist in periodic physical inventories at multiple locations.
• Execute special projects as needed
