Oberg Industries, located in Freeport, PA, is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Cost Accountant to join our finance team. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Investigate and process all inventory adjustments in collaboration with operations personnel.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly Absorption Reconciliation to evaluate standard rate effectiveness.
  • Evaluate item standard costs through variance analysis.
  • Review Operating Expense schedules to identify cost structure changes and timing variances.
  • Provide training and education to operations personnel on cost accounting systems.
  • Help define accurate standard cost rates in collaboration with finance and operations teams.
  • Reconcile inventory sub-ledgers to the general ledger monthly.
  • Calculate and record monthly Work-in-Process (WIP) accruals for PCS projects and production orders.
  • Analyze Lot Variance and Production Result transactions monthly.
  • Maintain and update inventory trend reports by division.
  • Conduct monthly margin report analysis with exception reporting.
  • Assist in designing ERP mapping schemes for inventory transaction accuracy.
  • Evaluate the slow-moving inventory reserve as of April, August, and December.
  • Monitor and report fixed and variable cost trends periodically by division.
  • Serve as a primary liaison for external auditors during physical inventories.
  • Identify and communicate internal control weaknesses in inventory processes.
  • Implement business intelligence tools like Power BI and Prophix to enhance efficiency.
  • Assist in annual budgeting and financial planning.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) and ERP systems such as LN, SAP, or Oracle.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to understand and respond to written documentation effectively.
  • Experience in manufacturing environments and industry practices.
  • Effective collaboration skills with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or comply with U.S. export regulations.
  • Ability to wear PPE such as earplugs, safety glasses, and safety shoes.
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE / EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
  • 5-7 years of experience in manufacturing or related fields preferred.
  • ERP/MRP system experience preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

This role involves regular travel through manufacturing areas. The environment is primarily an office setting with a climate-controlled atmosphere. Employees are expected to work on-site to perform their duties, supporting our collaborative work environment.
