Job summary

Pryer Aerospace, a leader in the aerospace sector, is expanding its accounting team and seeks a Cost Accountant. You will manage cost accounting activities, partner with purchasing and production, and support month-end close with emphasis on inventory valuation and reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Five or more years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
  • Manufacturing industry experience, including product costing and inventory accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting and analysis, standard costing, inventory controls, and process improvement.
  • Experience with the EPICOR ERP system, preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to research, compile, analyze, reconcile, and interpret financial and operational data.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with consistent attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal, clear, concise communication skills; and integrity, accountability, and sound judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day cost accounting activities, including inventory accounting, accounts payable coordination, invoicing and billing support, and labor reporting.
  • Maintain effective inventory controls and valuation procedures across manufacturing operations.
  • Coordinate with purchasing, accounts payable, inventory, production, and outside processors to ensure materials and related costs are accurately tracked through production.
  • Lead inventory cycle counts, investigate discrepancies, prepare reconciliations, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Review labor costs, standard costs, and manufacturing variances; identify trends and communicate actionable findings to management.
  • Support production planning, materials purchasing, and sales backlog reporting in partnership with operations leadership.
  • Prepare daily operational and financial reports, monthly financial statements, inventory variance analyses, inventory roll-forwards, and management reports.
  • Assist with month-end close, including inventory valuation, account reconciliations, accruals, and variance analysis.
  • Analyze inventory, margin, cost, and profitability reports; research exceptions and recommend process or control improvements.
  • Monitor planned versus actual production and related costs, analyze budget variances, and support timely corrective action.
  • Conduct internal audits and provide accurate documentation and analysis to the corporate office and external auditors.
  • Enforce corporate accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls within the manufacturing division.
  • Develop strong working relationships with senior operations management, supervisors, and office staff, providing financial information that supports efficient and profitable operations.
  • Support process and system alignment through EPICOR implementation across production facilities and potential future acquisitions.

Pryer Aerospace, an established industry leader in the Aerospace industry, is expanding its accounting team and seeking an experienced Cost Accountant.

The Cost Accountant is responsible for the company’s cost accounting activities with primary emphasis on inventory controls, inventory valuation, product costing, and operational reporting. This position partners closely with purchasing, accounts payable, inventory, production, and operations teams to accurately track materials and labor through the production process. The Cost Accountant also supports production planning, materials purchasing, outside processing, month-end close, and management reporting.

The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in cost accounting and financial operations within a manufacturing environment. This individual will analyze standard costs, inventory activity, labor and material variances, and product margins to identify trends. Working closely with finance and operational leadership, the Cost Accountant will strengthen inventory controls, improve reporting accuracy, maintain reliable cost data, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and profitability.

Reporting to the CFO, the successful candidate will be analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable translating complex financial information into clear, actionable insights to support the company’s continued growth and performance.

Key Responsibilities
