AMETEK’s Advanced Measurement Technology (AMT) business unit, within the Materials Analysis Division of AMETEK’s Electronic Instruments Group, has an opening for a Cost Accountant.

The Cost Accountant is a hands‑on finance professional who performs a variety of routine operational and accounting duties requiring some solo judgment. The ideal candidate is highly organized, has excellent communication skills, and an understanding of manufacturing accounting.

Costing Activities

• Ensure accurate product costing – including reviewing BOMs, overhead rates, etc.
• Provide accurate cost and analysis for pricing review
• Make‑vs‑Buy analysis
• Drive the annual standard cost review
• Coordinate annual physical inventory in Oakridge and Athens sites and spot‑check cycle counts every month in those sites
• Create and monitor special project accounting
• Support operations by creating/maintaining dashboards, metrics, and other relevant reporting
• Plan, coordinate, and assist reconciliation of cycle counts and physical inventories
• Create/maintain documentation of the procedures performed
• Brainstorm and help implement cost reductions/process improvements
• Other duties as assigned

GL Activities

• Assist with month‑end closing and preparation of monthly financial statements
• Assist with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures
• Prepare and ensure accuracy of account reconciliations
• Prepare journal entries
• Assist with internal and external audit requests
• Ensure corporate/divisional policies and procedures are followed
• Prepare ad‑hoc reports/analysis and communicate cross‑functionally
• Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
• Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
• Excellent communication, presentation, and writing skills
• Strong analytical skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• 3 to 5 years of relevant experience
• Exposure to Sarbanes‑Oxley (SOX)
• Exposure to Oracle ERP System
• Manufacturing‑related experience
• Standard cost build‑up experience through BOM and routings in a manufacturing environment
