Job summary

ClinLab Solutions Group is seeking an experienced Cost Accountant to oversee manufacturing cost accounting, standard costs, and month-end close processes. You will analyze cost drivers, perform variance analysis, and help drive improvements in inventory valuation and internal controls.

The role requires 6+ years in cost accounting, a CPA is a plus, and strong Excel skills. Knowledge of Sage X3 and controller consolidation reporting is desirable. This position is based in New York, NY.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
• 6+ years of cost accounting experience; public accounting a plus.
• CPA certification is a plus.
• Strong Excel and computer skills required; experience with Sage X3 desirable.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and analyze manufacturing costs (materials, labor, overhead) for accurate financial reporting.
• Maintain and update standard costs based on performance data.
• Support month-end close with cost variance analysis and journal entries.
• Reconcile inventory valuations with the general ledger and investigate discrepancies.
• Assist budgeting, forecasting, and cost modeling for planning and decision making.
• Prepare documentation for internal and external audits related to cost accounting.
• Ensure compliance with standards and internal controls; identify improvement opportunities.
• Deliver ad-hoc financial reports and drive process improvements in accounting.

This position is responsible for overseeing and analyzing manufacturing costs, maintaining cost standards, supporting financial close processes, and ensuring the integrity of cost accounting practices. The role involves collaboration with various teams to support business planning, compliance, and continuous improvement in accounting functions.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze and monitor manufacturing costs, including materials, labor, and overhead, to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Maintain and periodically update standard costs based on actual performance data.
• Support month-end close activities by performing cost variance analysis and preparing journal entries.
• Reconcile inventory valuations with general ledger accounts and analyze discrepancies.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cost modeling to aid business planning and decision-making.
• Provide documentation and analysis for internal and external audits related to cost accounting.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal policies, while monitoring internal controls for improvement opportunities.
• Deliver timely ad-hoc financial reports and take initiative to enhance accounting processes and financial outcomes.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• 6+ years of relevant experience in cost accounting or related fields.
• Cost accounting background required; public accounting experience preferred.
• CPA certification is a plus.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer skills required.
• Experience with Sage X3 and Controller consolidation reporting is desirable.
• Solid understanding of inventory accounting concepts, including valuation methods, COGS, PPV, and inventory reserves.
• Demonstrated ability in account reconciliation, variance analysis, and financial analysis, with a focus on identifying trends and financial risks.
