Job summary

Conn Selmer in Monroe, NC, is seeking a Cost Accountant to provide cost accounting and financial support for all manufacturing and distribution activities. You will manage cost maintenance, cycle counts, variances, and month-end entries.

The role collaborates with engineering, materials, and finance to ensure accurate product costs, budgeting, and reporting. Bachelor’s degree in accounting and at least two years of cost accounting in manufacturing are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in accounting or equivalent experience.
  • Two years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft Office Tools.
  • MAPICS/Infor/AS400 and/or Dynamics 365 experience, though not required, is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Month End Journal Entries and Accruals for Manufacturing/Distribution Facilities.
  • Periodic Metrics and KPIs related to plant performance.
  • Cost rolls for new purchased products and existing products (Annual Standard Revaluation).
  • Ensure accuracy of all Costs - Raw, WIP and FG.
  • Assist with BOM and Routing updates for manufactured and imported product.
  • Assist with Annual Budget and Period Forecasts.
  • Work with Engineering and Materials to develop accurate product structures for labor reporting and material consumption.
  • Communicate with stakeholders in a courteous and professional manner.

The Cost Accountant reports to the Operations Controller and is responsible for providing Cost Accounting and Financial Support for activities related to all Conn Selmer manufacturing and distribution facilities; includes cost maintenance, cycle count analysis, production order variance reviews, and month-end journal entries. Assist with other monthly, quarterly and or annual accounting tasks as assigned by finance.

Responsibilities
  • Month End Journal Entries and Accruals for Manufacturing/Distribution Facilities
  • Periodic Metrics and KPIs related to plant performance

  • Accuracy of all Costs - Raw, WIP and FG

  • Assist with Annual Budget and Period Forecasts
  • Work with Engineering and Materials to develop accurate product structures facilitating Labor Reporting and Material Consumption as appropriate to support effective and efficient reporting
  • Active Role to ensure all plant activities are properly reflected in monthly financial statements
  • Cycle Count Variance Root Cause, Warehouse CC Audits with tracking of the quarterly audit results
  • Physical Inventory Process and Analysis
  • Perpetual to GL reconciliations each quarter
  • Material, Labor and Overhead Variance Analysis
  • Cycle Count audits and trend tracking of the quarterly audit results at Distribution Warehouse
  • Communicate with all co-workers and company Stakeholders in a courteous and professional manner
  • Respond to local and corporate management as assigned with accurate and timely work
  • Conform to all safety rules and use all appropriate safety equipment
  • Production order variance reviews in Dynamics prior to production end of production orders
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Requirements
  • Bachelor degree in accounting is preferred or equivalent experience
  • Two years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Proficient knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft Office Tools
  • MAPICS/Infor/AS400 and/or Dynamics 365 experience, though not required, is a plus

  • Requires walking primarily on a level surface for periodic periods throughout the day
  • Hearing and visual acuity necessary
  • Requires exposure to the manufacturing areas where certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields, and mandatory hearing protection
