Job summary

APAS – A Professional Aviation Services Corp. is seeking a Cost Accountant to join our Finance team and support cost analysis, inventory accounting, asset management, and financial controls across our MRO operations.

Responsibilities include analyzing costs, maintaining standard costs, VAR analysis, and preparing reports while coordinating with Finance, Purchasing, Logistics, and Operations to improve cost controls and accuracy. Aviation/MRO experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5–7 years of cost, inventory, asset, or manufacturing accounting experience.
• Proficient in standard costing, variance analysis, and US GAAP.
• Experience in aviation, aerospace, manufacturing, or MRO preferred.
• Advanced Excel and ERP system experience.

• Support accounting for serialized, traceable, consigned, repairable, and rotable aviation parts.
• Prepare cost, inventory, and operational performance reports.
• Coordinate with Finance, Purchasing, Logistics, and Operations to improve cost controls and financial accuracy.

What You’ll Do

• Maintain and review standard costs and investigate cost variances.
• Analyze work-order profitability, margins, inventory costing, and cost of goods sold (COGS).
• Maintain accurate inventory valuation and accounting records.
• Prepare inventory adjustments and general ledger reconciliations.
• Support physical inventory counts and investigate discrepancies.
• Maintain fixed-asset records, depreciation schedules, and capitalization activities.
• Support accounting for serialized, traceable, consigned, repairable, and rotable aviation parts.
• Prepare cost, inventory, and operational performance reports.
• Coordinate with Finance, Purchasing, Logistics, and Operations to improve cost controls and financial accuracy.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5–7 years of experience in cost, inventory, asset, or manufacturing accounting.
• Strong knowledge of standard costing, variance analysis, inventory valuation, capitalization, depreciation, and US GAAP.
• Experience in aviation, aerospace, manufacturing, repair operations, or an MRO environment is strongly preferred.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience working with ERP systems.
• Experience with Quantum Control, Pentagon 2000, Ramco, or a similar aviation ERP is preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
