Job summary

TCC Materials in Mendota Heights, MN is seeking an Inventory Cost Analyst to monitor, analyze, and report on inventory valuation, production run rates, variances, and material prices. You will develop standard costs, allocate costs monthly, and verify closing activities.

Responsibilities include maintaining inventory master data, BOMs, routings, and pricing; coordinating tax returns; supporting annual physical inventories; and improving costing accuracy and efficiency through data-driven

Qualifications

• College degree and 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Experience in inventory management and costing.
• Strong data analysis and Excel skills.
• Experience with tax compliance and sales tax returns.

Responsibilities

• Create, maintain, and audit inventory master data (item records, BOMs, routings) ensuring accuracy.
• Coordinate new item setups, revisions, obsolescence, and master data changes with cross-functional alignment.
• Prepare, file, and reconcile monthly/quarterly/annual sales and use tax returns per regulations.
• Assist with annual physical inventories and cycle counts; investigate discrepancies and recommend actions.
• Periodically audit inventory master data for completeness and accuracy; ensure adherence to standards.
• Visit manufacturing facilities to understand processes and cost drivers; identify cost-accuracy improvements.
• Develop and maintain SOPs for inventory setup, control, costing, and tax administration.
• Onboard and map validation for EDI trading partners; assist testing and implementation.

We offer competitive pay and a great benefits package.What You’ll Do:This individual will monitor, analyze, and report on inventory valuation, production run rates, manufacturing variances, material prices, and freight costs. This position develops and maintains standard costs, processes monthly cost allocations, and verifies monthly closing activities.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesCreate, maintain, and audit inventory master data, including item records, Bills of Materials (BOMs), manufacturing routings, and related product structures, ensuring the accuracy of item attributes, units of measure, costing methods, pricing, purchasing information, and inventory classifications.Coordinate all new item setup, item revisions, product obsolescence, and manufacturing master data changes while ensuring data integrity, cross-functional alignment, and consistency across departments.Prepare, file, and reconcile monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and use tax returns while ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local tax regulations.Assist in coordinating annual physical inventories and cycle count programs while investigating inventory discrepancies and recommending corrective actions.Perform periodic audits of inventory master data to ensure completeness, accuracy, and adherence to company standards.Periodically visit manufacturing facilities to understand production processes and cost drivers while identifying opportunities to improve costing accuracy and operational efficiency.Develop and maintain documentation and standard operating procedures related to inventory item setup, inventory control processes, product costing, and sales tax administration.Assist with onboarding new EDI trading partners, document mapping validation, testing, and implementation activities.Maintain effective working relationships with company employees, suppliers, and customers.
