Franklin International, a leading manufacturer of adhesives, coatings, and sealants is currently seeking a Cost Accountant. This position is responsible for cost accounting tasks related to maintaining the accuracy and integrity of Franklin's standard cost system, product costing, inventory transactions, valuation, and physical inventory, manufacturing costs, and cost variances. Supports the month-end close process and provides routine and on-demand reporting, reconciling, and analysis.
Responsible for the daily tasks and checks that ensure the standard cost system is working correctly and efficiently. Helps identify setup issues and speaks for cost system concerns when assisting with new processes. Monitors for exceptions indicating inventory and product cost issues.
Ensures new products are costed correctly and efficiently through an understanding of the cost system and Franklin's manufacturing processes as well as collaboration with relevant departments. Provides cost estimates for new products as needed. Participates in quarterly standard cost rollups.
Reviews inventory transactions, works with various departments to ensure transactional integrity, assists with inventory reserve and monitoring unsellable inventory. Participates in year-end physical inventory.
Ensures manufacturing expenses are recorded correctly, assists with corrections, provides analysis and reporting as needed. Assists with cost models and ensuring expenses ultimately roll up into product costs correctly.
Reviews variances including PPV, cycle counts, shop orders, etc. Summarizes and identifies trends and problem items/transactions. Supports corrections and process improvement.
Supports costing accounting related month-end close activities including journal entries, reconciliations, and database loads.
Supports various departments and processes with routine and on-demand reporting and analysis.
Professional status as demonstrated by a four-year business degree or two-year degree with equivalent experience. Experience with MS Office Suite required along with strong Excel skills. The position requires strong interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills, as well as good written and verbal communication skills. Must have proven ability to meet tight deadlines, ensure accuracy, and collaborate effectively.
