Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a dedicated cosmetology instructor to plan and deliver a comprehensive curriculum that aligns with district goals and the dual enrollment program with West Georgia Technical College. You will develop engaging lessons, assess student progress, and foster a collaborative classroom environment.

The role requires strong communication, teamwork, and engagement strategies, plus the ability to coordinate CTSO activities and participate in extended-day duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Master Cosmetologist License from an accredited post-secondary institution.
• Ethics for Teachers Assessment (Test Code 351) required.
• GA Professional Standards Commission certifications and training required.
• Effective written and oral communication skills; ability to foster a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement a program of instruction aligned with district goals and program objectives.
• Create purposeful lesson plans and maximize time on task.
• Stay current in subject matter knowledge and learning theory.
• Design a program of study to meet the needs of all students.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning with diverse strategies.
• Engage in remediation, acceleration, and scaffolding strategies.
• Use high-yield instructional strategies to promote active engagement.
• Collaborate with teacher preparation programs and Workforce Development partners.
• Coordinate with West Georgia Technical College to support dual enrollment.
• Assist with recruitment, marketing, and CTSO activities.
