Job summary

Georgia Piedmont Technical College seeks a full-time Cosmetology Instructor to provide theory and hands-on instruction enabling students to develop professional cosmetology skills. Evening classes are offered at the DeKalb Campus, with duties including student advising, curriculum updates, and materials development.

Qualifications

• Diploma from an accredited postsecondary college.
• Must hold a current Master Cosmetologist License issued by the Georgia Board of Cosmetology. License must be maintained throughout employment.
• Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of current instructional techniques and technology.
• Must demonstrate excellent written, oral communication and interpersonal skills.
• A flexible work schedule is necessary, as classes may be taught during day, evening, and Saturday periods.
• Three or more years, within the last seven, of paid in-field work experience in a salon and teaching experience in a secondary or postsecondary Cosmetology program.
• Strong computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office Products.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Provide theory and practical instruction to a level sufficient for students to develop the skills to become employed in Cosmetology.
• Teach evening classes at the DeKalb Campus.
• Advise and mentor students, select textbooks, update curriculum, and develop instructional materials.
• Report to the Division Chair of Industrial Technology and Professional Services.
