Job summary

Southern Careers Institute is seeking a dedicated Cosmetology Instructor to improve the lives of students through an engaging and collaborative teaching environment. You will prepare lesson plans, adapt teaching methods for diverse needs and promote communication and critical thinking skills.

Qualifications

• Cosmetology Instructor License is required.
• Minimum of 1 year of post-secondary teaching experience is preferred.
• Strong Nail Technician experience is necessary.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate knowledge of the teaching field and discipline.
• Organize instruction to maximize student learning.
• Modify instructional strategies for diverse student needs.
• Prepare lesson plans as per approved curriculum.
• Encourage development of communication and thinking skills.
• Act as liaison between the school and TDLR.
• Perform other assigned duties.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate and apply a thorough and accurate knowledge of the teaching field and discipline;
• Plan and organize instruction in ways which maximize student learning. Practice excellence in teaching and instruction;
• Modify instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse students’ needs;
• Prepare lesson plans and teach courses as prescribed by the approved institutional curriculum;
• Encourage the development of communication skills and higher order thinking skills through appropriate assignments;
• Act as Liaison between the school and TDLR;
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Cosmetology Instructor License (required);
• Prior post-secondary related teaching experience of at least 1 year in subject matter is highly preferred;
• Strong Nail Technician experience.
