Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a licensed cosmetologist or barber.
• Current Master Instructor license required.
• Knowledge of state laws, rules, and regulations governing cosmetology and barbering.
• Experience conducting inspections and enforcing regulations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections of licensed salons, barber shops, schools, and related establishments to ensure compliance with state laws and regulations.
• Investigate complaints related to unsanitary conditions, unlicensed activity, or other violations.
• Educate licensees, students, and the public on health, safety, and sanitation standards and licensing requirements.
• Issue notices of violation and guide corrective actions for non-compliance.
• Prepare inspection reports and maintain records of findings and enforcement actions.
• Collect evidence and testify in administrative hearings or legal proceedings as needed.
• Assist with administering examinations to determine qualifications to practice cosmetology or barbering; may conduct tests.
• Travel within an assigned region to conduct inspections and attend agency meetings.
• Perform other related duties to support the Board.
