Bakery Manager-In-Training
Position Objective: To assist customers in their shopping experience by leading all aspects of the bakery team in a way that promotes growth for the company and delivers top-notch product and service. This position is an understudy of the Bakery Manager and Perishable Manager.
Reporting Structure: This position reports to the Bakery Manager.
Status: Non-exempt position.
Knowledge
Essential:
- A valid driver’s license is required for deliveries.
- A food handling permit must be obtained within the first 14 days of employment.
- At least 3 years’ experience in bakery, preferably in grocery, retail, restaurant, or corporate environments.
- At least 1 year of supervisory experience in bakery, food service, or hospitality management, supervising more than 10 employees.
- Completion of ongoing training as listed on the Cosentino’s Learning Plan.
Non-Essential:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Skills and Job Functions
Essential:
- Act as manager-in-charge in the absence of the Bakery Manager.
- Support the Bakery Manager with coaching, corrective actions, and performance evaluations.
- Promote teamwork, high morale, and positive communication.
- Supervise bakery team activities effectively and respectfully.
- Increase department sales through promotions and specials.
- Meet or exceed productivity standards.
- Implement Cosentino’s Customer Service Standards.
- Provide knowledgeable and courteous customer assistance.
- Practice effective inventory management, including counting, verifying, and ordering.
- Ensure proper product rotation and monitor product dates.
- Maintain cleanliness, stock levels, and appealing displays.
- Comply with health, sanitation, and safety regulations.
- Operate and maintain equipment safely.
- Demonstrate strong verbal and interpersonal skills.
- Possess basic math and reading skills.
Non-Essential:
- Assist in hiring, scheduling, and addressing employee relations issues.
- Promote sales through product suggestions and displays.
- Handle customer complaints professionally.
- Prepare and stock products efficiently.
- Support additional tasks and cross-store assistance as needed.
Physical Abilities
Essential:
- Reaching, twisting, lifting up to 20 lbs, pushing/pulling, standing/walking for long periods, occasional lifting up to 35 lbs, bending, squatting, working in cold environments.
Non-Essential:
- Climbing ladders up to 5 ft.
