JOB DESCRIPTION
The Corrugator Belt Services team is seeking a highly experienced, hands-on Chief Operating Officer who has scaled a business before and arrives with a real plan for the first several months. This is a senior leadership role for someone who has built the operational backbone of a growing company and can contribute strategically from the start, ideally in field services, trades, or manufacturing.
This role will lead Corrugator Belt Services through its most ambitious chapter yet, with a goal of growing the business nearly tenfold by 2028. You will take the company from a founder-run operation to a documented, system-led, scalable organization through strategy, structure, SOPs, financial oversight, training, and clear communication. The application code word is EMPOWER. The COO is a highly skilled strategic thinker who anticipates and solves problems in a self-directed way, and who builds a team around them that moves fast while maintaining quality.
The COO is responsible for:
- Aligning strategy and execution across every department
- Designing and implementing the processes, systems, and structure the business needs to scale
- Creating financial transparency and clear performance visibility for ownership
- Building a leadership team that owns its outcomes
This is a full-time, remote position with travel to customer sites and key hubs across the U.S. Employment type: W2. Given the critical nature of this role, we host a rigorous, 4-part application process.
WHAT MAKES THIS ROLE UNIQUE
The founder has built this company over more than three decades and is ready to hand over the reins. He will step back from the CEO and operational seat to focus on sales and key customer relationships, and he is committed to giving the right operator real, publicly recognized authority to make and hold operational decisions.
Your success will be measured by one outcome: operational decisions no longer route through the founder, and the business runs on documented systems, clear metrics, and an accountable leadership team. You'll work with ownership to establish clear 30/60/90/180-day milestones, operating cadences, and decision-making frameworks during your first 90 days.
This role calls for someone who can be the steady counterpart to a high-drive founder, giving honest feedback with diplomacy and helping translate revenue goals into a shared purpose the whole team can rally around.
RESPONSIBILITIES (TASKS ASSOCIATED WITH THE ROLE)
Strategic Leadership & Management
- Own day-to-day management of the leadership layer across Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Customer Success so the founder can focus on growth and customer relationships
- Translate high-level revenue targets into actionable plans with clear initiatives and milestones
- Connect the growth goals to a clear mission and "Big Why" that unifies the team
- Keep departments working together as one system, with shared priorities and clear handoffs
Systems, Process & Single Source of Truth
- Review existing SOPs, identify gaps in each division, and codify tribal knowledge into written, accessible procedures
- Integrate a fragmented tech stack into a centralized, trackable system, including evaluating and implementing a true CRM
- Ensure all project and task management lives in one place with clear ownership and accountability
- Build KPIs for every department and individual, with an emphasis on leading indicators alongside revenue targets
- Create dashboards that give ownership and leaders a clear view of performance without digging into the details
- Equip supervisors to hold their teams accountable to clear, fair expectations
- Refresh goals regularly as the team grows so they stay aligned to the strategic vision
- Build a transparent, automated P&L and reporting process with clear ownership visibility
- Lead financial planning, budgeting, and modeling to support the growth goal
- Formalize and document compensation, bonus, and incentive structures that align with the industry and attract strong new hires
Communication & Meeting Rhythm
- Establish a professional communication rhythm, including All Hands and leadership meetings
- Build a meeting menu with clear agendas that drive efficiency, transparency, and decisions
- Lead key strategic meetings and ensure outcomes and owners are clear
- Develop training programs that help the team grow with the business
REQUIREMENTS (EXPECTED PROFICIENCIES)
Experience Requirements (Non-Negotiable)
- Proven track record scaling a business through significant growth, ideally building the infrastructure to support close to 10x expansion

- Experience overseeing multiple departments at once, including Sales, Administration, and field technicians
- Experience leading a distributed workforce of on-site field teams and remote international staff
- Strong financial acumen, including P&L creation, financial modeling, and compensation structure design
- Field services, trades, or manufacturing experience strongly preferred; pulp and paper or corrugated packaging experience is a significant advantage
Core Competencies
- Systems architecture and automation, with the ability to unify disconnected tools into one working system
- KPI development and data visualization focused on leading indicators
- Process documentation and SOP development across multiple divisions
- Strategic planning that turns revenue targets into clear, executable milestones
- Outcome-based management philosophy rather than input or time-tracking management
Critical Soft Skills (Deal-Breakers)
- Radical transparency and the backbone to give a founder honest feedback on how their leadership style affects the team
- High emotional intelligence to bridge field technicians, office staff, ownership, and customers
- A balanced managerial lens that holds people accountable to values and daily metrics while recognizing what is going well
- Ability to have difficult conversations with confidence and follow through
- Clear, direct communicator who creates alignment up and down the organization
Technical Requirements
- Ability to maintain core collaboration hours in Central Time
- Highly resourceful with a natural aptitude for learning new tools and systems
- Data-driven decision maker who uses evidence to make critical choices
- Exceptional attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills

- You hold yourself to the highest standards and stay resilient through obstacles
- You're hands-on and willing to get into the details while keeping the big picture in view
- You thrive in a growth environment and see complexity as opportunity
- You're energized by building something that lasts beyond any one person
BENEFITS
- Base salary of $185,000 plus performance-based compensation
- Employment & benefits: Full-time W2 position that includes a health benefits reimbursement plan, 3 weeks of paid time off, and major holidays.
- Professional Development: This role will be supported by an external Ops program that includes Ops mentorship, community, and live coaching.
