Job summary

Pratt Industries, Inc. in Valparaiso, IN seeks a packaging design and tooling specialist to review artwork and design samples for corrugated containers, translating customer artwork and specs into functional prototypes and layouts.

You'll collaborate with Sales, Customer Service and Production to ensure accuracy, maintain tooling libraries, manage CAM-produced prototypes, and coordinate tooling purchases and vendor discussions to optimize quality and efficiency.

Qualifications

Associates degree or equivalent in a technical field, or 6 months–1 year related experience.
Ability to read CAD drawings and shop documentation.
Proficiency with Artios CAD or similar tooling.
Strong math skills and ability to interpret dimensions.
Ability to communicate effectively and work with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

Review artwork and designs and create samples/layouts from customer specs.
Fabricate corrugated container designs for packaging and graphics.
Provide CAD files and print cards to Sales, CS, and Production.
Maintain library of tooling in die-cut and printing areas.
Create prototypes using CAM systems for customer sendouts.
Produce small order quantities when required.
Purchase tooling such as dies, print plates, and supplies.
Coordinate with vendors on tooling pricing and efficiencies.
Proof new print plates and dies; coordinate repairs with shop.
Ensure compliance with safety, sanitation, GMP, and HACCP standards as applicable.
