About the Role
Engineered Corrosion Solutions is seeking a Corrosion Field Engineer to support corrosion investigations and consulting projects for fire sprinkler systems across a wide range of industries. This role combines field investigations, technical analysis, report writing, and client interaction to help facility owners better understand corrosion risks and implement effective remediation strategies. This position is ideal for an early-career engineer who enjoys solving technical problems, working in diverse environments, and applying engineering principles to real-world challenges. You will work alongside experienced corrosion specialists, perform investigations at client sites, analyze findings, and contribute to recommendations that help protect critical infrastructure and building systems. The ideal candidate is curious, detail-oriented, and eager to develop expertise in corrosion science, fire sprinkler systems, and forensic engineering. What You'll Do
Field Investigations and Data Collection
- Perform corrosion investigation work at client facilities nationwide under the guidance of experienced engineers
- Conduct internal video inspections of sprinkler system piping using specialized borescope equipment
- Document sprinkler system layouts and field observations using digital tools
- Capture photographs and other site evidence to support engineering analysis
- Collect system, facility, and operating condition data relevant to corrosion investigations
- Work safely in industrial, commercial, and construction environments while following all site-specific safety requirements
- Prepare for upcoming investigations through project planning and review of available documentation
Technical Analysis and Reporting
- Review and analyze field investigation data to identify corrosion conditions and contributing factors
- Evaluate video evidence and physical inspection findings
- Measure and assess corrosion pitting and pipe deterioration characteristics
- Interpret site‑specific design, construction, and operational factors affecting system performance
- Contribute to technical reports by documenting observations, analyzing data, and preparing draft findings for review by senior engineers
- Support the development of corrosion studies and remediation strategies for clients
- Assist with technical research and contribute content for reports, presentations, and publications
Client Communication and Technical Consulting
- Participate in client meetings and gain experience communicating technical information
- Assist senior engineers in presenting investigation findings and recommendations
- Support project teams in delivering client reports and presentations
- Build positive working relationships with facility owners, contractors, and industry professionals
- Learn how to communicate complex technical concepts in a clear and practical manner
Business Development Support
- Support the sales team by gathering technical information and assisting with project discussions
- Participate in discussions with prospective clients alongside senior engineers
- Provide technical support for proposal development and project scoping activities
- Help demonstrate ECS's expertise and commitment to delivering practical corrosion control solutions
Technical Growth and Professional Development
- Develop expertise in fire sprinkler system construction, operation, and corrosion mechanisms
- Learn industry standards, investigation methods, and engineering best practices
- Pursue continuous professional development through training, field experience, and technical research
- Work under the guidance of senior engineers and technical specialists while gradually increasing responsibility and independence
- Pursue Professional Engineer licensure and other relevant professional development opportunities
Qualifications: What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to balance fieldwork requirements with project data collection objectives
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to prepare technical documentation
- Ability to work independently while accepting coaching and direction from experienced team members
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications
- Ability to work effectively with contractors, facilities personnel, and other project stakeholders
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel as required
Preferred Qualifications
- One to two years of experience in fire protection engineering, corrosion engineering, or a related technical field
- Internship or co-op experience in engineering or industrial environments
- Ability to read and interpret building plans, schematics, and construction drawings
- Working knowledge of chemistry, materials science, or corrosion principles
- Experience presenting technical information in academic, internship, or professional settings
- Experience using measurement, inspection, or metrology equipment
- Interest in pursuing Professional Engineer licensure

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Regular travel to client sites throughout the United States
- Travel typically averages up to 50% of working days and may increase during peak project periods
- Ability to work in office, industrial, commercial, and construction environments
- Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs and ladders, and access elevated work areas including scissor lifts and boom lifts
- Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including hard hats, safety glasses, high-visibility vests, safety footwear, gloves, and fall protection equipment
- Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions and environmental settings
- Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, travel, and computer work may be required
