Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Job Description

This role reports firsthand information of news events, both national and international. The news correspondent provides the audience with context, analysis, and different perspectives.

Responsibilities

  1. Daily coverage of news events primarily from the Los Angeles bureau and surrounding areas.
  2. Provide live on-air reports.
  3. Contribute to the editorial line of the day by pitching stories, exclusive reports, or interviews.
  4. Travel to cover breaking news or scheduled news events.
  5. Work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment for the late newscasts and weekends. Flexibility to work early mornings and adapt to last-minute schedule changes is required.
  6. Actively search for content across all platforms, including social media and streaming.
  7. Write compelling and accurate scripts.
  8. Collaborate with assignment editors, executive producers, producers, and writers.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, Communications, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a newsroom in Spanish.
  • Experience creating digital video content is helpful.
  • Strong editorial knowledge.
  • Proven solid writing skills and editorial judgment with strong storytelling ability.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines, writing headlines and editing video for live digital broadcasts.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish (both written and verbal).
  • Availability for early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms.

Salary Range: $140,000 - $145,000

Eligibility Requirements
