The State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Pine Grove is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Corrections Welding Trade Instructor to join our team! In this role, you will instruct inmates in the welding trade. Apply today and share your expertise to help inmates learn employable skills for use upon their release!

As a Corrections Welding Trade Instructor, you will provide technical and physical support in the form of welding trade skills while instructing an inmate work crew in their daily activities and assignments. You can expect to provide on-the-job training and shop instruction for the vocational training of inmates in the welding trade. This will include the instruction of inmates in the practices, methods, and procedures of the welding trade by demonstration, explanation, and close supervision. You will also fabricate, weld, and install material for projects, working with inmates and alone when required. Additionally, you will maintain order and discipline among inmate workers, search inmates and work areas for contraband, and ensure the security of work areas.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday.
• This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
• Telework:You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary:Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $50,846.00 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Four years of experience in arc and gas welding of various components or structural frameworks;or
• Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the welding trade;or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the welding trade.

Other Requirements:

• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

• You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
