Job summary

State of Maine invites applications for a Correctional Trade Instructor at Maine Correctional Center in Windham. You will supervise and instruct residents in general maintenance and landscaping, assign jobs, and manage equipment and safety protocols to support rehabilitation and training within a correctional setting.

The role requires a high school diploma and at least three years in a skilled trade, with preference for candidates who can supervise crews and perform building maintenance and

Qualifications

• Graduated from high school or equivalent.
• Three years of education and/or experience in a skilled trade (e.g., carpentry, electrician, plumbing).
• Preference will be given to candidates with skills in supervising work crews & general building maintenance, including landscaping.

Responsibilities

• Instructs and supervises residents in trade tasks and collateral duties.
• Plans and schedules resident work crews and ensures productive training experiences.
• Maintains safety and security, and ensures compliance with ACA and institutional policies.
• Assists in identifying equipment and tools needed for projects and assesses performance and durability.
• Intervenes in behavioral issues and documents progress for treatment teams.
