Alpharus Health is seeking a Substance Use Counselor in Bushnell, FL, to support offenders in correctional healthcare settings. You will conduct interviews, assess treatment responses, and tailor plans while maintaining required documentation and compliance.

You will provide group and individual sessions, psychoeducation, relapse prevention, and support for pro-social transition. The role emphasizes collaboration with supervisors and discharge planning to ensure sustained recovery.

Qualifications

• Candidates with a Bachelor's/Master's degrees in a related field will also need at least 6 months of professional experience in substance use counseling and/or mental health counseling.
• Candidates with an Associate degree will need at least 4 years of professional experience in substance use counseling and/or mental health counseling.
• Candidates with an H.S. diploma/GED need 6 years of experience.
• Florida certifications for addiction counseling (CAP/CCJAP/CAC) meet criteria.

Responsibilities

• Conducts client interviews to review substance use disorder and treatment history.
• Evaluates client response to treatment to modify plans and manage caseloads.
• Provides didactic group counseling, psychoeducation, and family education.
• Delivers individual counseling and educational programs for relapse prevention and behavioral change.
• Collaborates with clients to develop discharge summaries and aftercare planning.
• Coordinates services to resolve emergencies and support recovery.
