Job summary

Montgomery County Sheriff's Office is seeking Corrections Officers to provide care, custody, and control of inmates at the Montgomery County Jail, enforcing safety and security daily. You will inspect housing areas, supervise cleaning, feed inmates, distribute supplies, collect records, photograph and fingerprint inmates, and respond to emergencies.

Shifts run 11:30pm–7:30am, 7:30am–3:30pm, and 3:30pm–11:30pm; applicants must be 18+, have a HS diploma, and pass the Basic Corrections Academy

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to meet established physical and training requirements (standing, stairs, running, lifting).
• Within the first year of hire, pass the Basic Corrections Academy.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safety and security of the jail while caring for inmates.
• Inspect assigned areas for compliance with security standards.
• Supervise cleaning of housing units.
• Feed inmates at established times and account for utensils and trays.
• Distribute personal hygiene supplies and clothing to inmates.
• Collect and maintain information on inmates using jail logs.
• Maintain inmate custody records and process inmates in and out of custody.
• Photograph and fingerprint inmates; monitor inmate movement and welfare.
• Conduct security and wellness checks, counts, and searches.
• Report irregularities and emergencies to supervisor as required.
