Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Experience is not required; substitutes allowed: experience in planned recreation/physical education can substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
• Must be able to work in a correctional environment and handle diverse inmate populations.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct and coordinate recreational activities for inmates in a large correctional facility.
• Consult with institutional staff in planning programs for residents.
• Gather information on offender skills, abilities, and interests to plan activities.
• Supervise gymnasium sanitation, equipment maintenance, and inventory of supplies.
• Attend institutional meetings and prepare reports.
• Maintain records on recreational equipment.
• Direct leagues, tournaments, and holiday events for all inmate populations.
• Keep records and inventories of recreational equipment.
