Job summary

The Montana State Prison Pharmacy Assistant supports the medication delivery system by ordering, processing, and tracking medications for inmates. This role helps ensure timely delivery from the mail-order pharmacy vendor and maintains patient records under supervision.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED; two years of experience in a pharmacy or medical office setting is preferred, and a Pharmacy Technician certification is welcome but not required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED
• Two years' experience in a pharmacy or medical office setting.
• Prefer a certification as a registered Pharmacy Technician but not required.

Responsibilities

• Maintains patients' records, assists in processing medication orders and tracks delivery of medications from the mail-order pharmacy vendor.
• Ensure that inmates are transferred to various locations in the system and those discharged from the system have an adequate supply of medication.
• Reports to the Director of Nursing or designated nursing supervisor and provides administrative support function to same.
