State of Missouri's Missouri Department of Corrections is hiring Corrections Officers. This full-time role focuses on maintaining security, supervising offenders, and responding to emergencies within a maximum-security setting.

You will receive comprehensive training and benefits while serving Missourians. The job requires 18+, successful background check, and completion of Defensive Tactics and First Aid/CPR; firearms certification may be required.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Ability to pass a background investigation.
• Defensive Tactics and Standard First Aid/CPR training during Basic Training.
• Possession of a valid vehicle operator's license.
• Possibility of firearms certification training.

Responsibilities

• Maintains security in correctional facilities; intervenes during emergencies or altercations and gains physical control of offenders.
• Supervises movement of offenders inside/outside the correctional facility; conducts counts and searches for contraband.
• Supervises offender housing units and activities; monitors work, recreation and religious activities.
• Conducts inspections for health and safety hazards; prepares/submits reports on violations and security issues.
• Discusses minor adjustment problems with offenders; refers serious problems to staff; promotes rehabilitation.
• Supervises visits with offenders; screens visitors and facilities for contraband.
• Performs work per rules/post orders; follows administrative direction; performs related tasks.
