Job summary

Vets Hired is seeking a Corrections Officer to maintain security and order within an adult correctional facility. The role requires supervising offenders, enforcing rules, and responding to emergencies while supporting rehabilitation and access to services.

The officer will use security systems, firearms, and restraints; maintain training and certifications; and exercise law enforcement authority within the facility.

Qualifications

• Strong communication, interpersonal, observation, and de-escalation skills required.
• Ability to respond to emergencies and control potentially dangerous situations.
• Must meet medical and physical standards; complete required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Maintain security and order in correctional facilities and posts.
• Supervise offenders during housing units, work, and activities.
• Escort and transport offenders as required; conduct counts and inspections.
• Conduct searches for contraband and weapons; respond to emergencies and security incidents.
• Prepare incident reports and maintain records; refer behavioral concerns to staff.
