Job summary

The Department of Corrections is recruiting for multiple Correctional Officer 2 positions for the Anchorage Correctional Complex (ACC) located in Anchorage, Alaska. New Correctional Officers undergo 12-14 months of structured field training and attend a seven-week Correctional Officer Academy, earning certification from the Alaska Police Standards Council.

Qualifications

Completion of the Alaska Correctional Officer Academy and one year of related custody, security, and rehabilitation duties.
Must be a U.S. citizen or U.S. National and at least 21 years old at hire.
Background, psychological, drug screening, and medical checks are required for certification.
Possess a valid U.S. driver's license; CDL may be required for some positions.

Responsibilities

Follow instructions and use communication and software tools to manage information.
Learn self-defense, firearms, and appropriate force techniques; handle emergencies with sound judgment.
Support custody, security, and rehabilitation efforts and maintain order and safety.
