Osceola County is offering a sponsorship-based Correctional Academy Cadet program in Kissimmee,FL. Starting pay is $23.17 per hour, rising to $26.28 after passing the state exam.

Selected candidates attend Valencia College’s School of Public Safety and must pass PAT and CJBAT, with the County covering the $39 CJBAT fee upon PAT completion. Minimum qualifications include being 18+, US citizenship, a high school diploma or GED, a valid Florida driver’s license with CDL passenger endorsement for

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and a United States Citizen.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's license; CDL with passenger endorsement required prior to transporting inmates.
• Must pass testing for CPR and First Aid Certifications.
• Must not have felony convictions or certain misdemeanors; able to pass background checks and exams.
• Must be able to pass CJBAT, PAT, and comprehensive physical/psychological exams.

Responsibilities

• Direct, supervise and monitor inmates housed in the Osceola Correctional facility.
• Observe, interact and supervise activities to enforce order and discipline.
• Perform rounds, inspections and searches for contraband; ensure safety and sanitation.
• Transport inmates to and from facilities; participate in training and certifications.
• Maintain detailed records, reports and activity logs.
