Job summary

The Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC) is seeking a Security Officer III for Coffeewood Correctional Center to help ensure the safety and security of inmates, staff, and the surrounding public. This role includes enforcing policies, supervising inmate activities, and maintaining accurate records.

Qualified applicants will have a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to possess a firearm.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to read and comprehend workplace policies and procedures.
• Ability to lawfully possess a firearm in Virginia.
• Willing to complete medical screening, background check and drug testing.

Responsibilities

• Provide safety and security for the public, staff, and inmates.
• Supervise inmates in confinement and during transport.
• Observe and record inmate behavior and movements for safe confinement.
• Ensure compliance with department policies and procedures.
