THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position provides leadership and oversight in the care, custody, and control of inmates while supporting the daily operations of SCI Fayette. The role ensures that staff follow procedures, stay alert, and maintain a secure environment. As a Corrections Officer 3, you will perform the following duties:

• Staff Supervision: Oversee officers, assign duties, provide training, and ensure compliance with policies and procedures
• Inmate Oversight: Monitor inmate housing units, address concerns, observe behavior, and document daily activities
• Facility Operations: Coordinate schedules, organize inmate movements, and maintain required records and reports
• Security Procedures: Process transports, inspect vehicles and materials, and support searches to prevent contraband and escape
• Incident Response: Participate in investigations, address policy violations, and assist during crisis situations

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 40-hour work week
• Work hours are to be determined with set days off.
• This position is eligible for retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year as a Corrections Officer 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Four years of experience in corrections security work in a Pennsylvania state or county corrections facility. (Note: Persons seeking employment under this option will be required to successfully complete, or have completed, a training program conducted by the Department of Corrections.)

Other Requirements:

• PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

• You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
