Qualifications

• Education above GL-5 is generally not creditable for most positions; graduate education may be credited if directly related to the work.
• At least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty to the next lower grade level.
• Experience with medical terminology, medical records, and documentation requests; ability to review medical records for completeness and compliance with JCAHO.

Responsibilities

• Experience in discerning discrepancies or deficiencies and preparing written notifications for corrective action for inmates' files/patient records.
• Experience in coding records using ICD-9-CM; knowledge of FOIA and Privacy Act for information release.
• Experience in developing various statistical reports to support health service operations and to retrieve information for research and compliance purposes.
• Experience coordinating documentation with hospitals, treatment facilities, or outside organizations and tracking progress of requested materials.
