The Department of Corrections (DOC), State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Phoenix is seeking a highly motivated Corrections Maintenance Foreman.If you are enthusiastic about maintaining a large facility while making a positive impact in the futures of inmates during incarceration, this is the job for you. As a Corrections Maintenance Foreman, you will oversee inmate work crews inroutine construction, lawn care, snow removal, janitorial, and other general maintenance tasks. You will plan inmate schedules, instruct proper operation of machinery,and inspect completed work. You will also assist other trades staff in carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical, refrigeration, masonry, and welding. The role requires exercising technical independence to determine proper procedures and materials necessary to complete work effectively and efficiently. In addition, you will submit requisitionsfor materials and tools, ensure completed work complies with performance standards, and maintain order and discipline of inmates during work assignments.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework:You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Four years of experience performing building maintenance, construction, or general trades work; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
