This is or the position of FIELD LIEUTENANT.
FIELD Positions require completion of an eighty-hour basic horsemanship course at a satisfactory level within six (6) months of hire.

All DOC positions are designated as Safety Sensitive Positions and are subject to random drug testing pursuant to the Secretarial Directive governing Personnel Drug Testing. The Corrections Lieutenant is responsible for directing the work activities of correctional employees and maintaining security within the institution. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.
Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse team. Ability to manage and de-escalate high-tension situations calmly and effectively. Proficient in monitoring behaviors and identifying potential security risks. Conduct thorough security checks of buildings, grounds, and other public safety activities. Familiarity with department policies and procedures.
The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma, plus three years of experience in correctional security or law enforcement, including two years in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
